Getting started

Create your first book, choose a beginning, and write a line for today. Open another date to add an older memory. The same month and day appear together across your book’s five years. You can leave days blank and return whenever you like.

What is free?

One active five-year book, writing, photos, search, backups and plain exports are free. Full Shelf is an optional one-time purchase for up to six books and a designed book PDF. The purchase screen shows the localized store price before you buy.

Restoring Full Shelf

Use Restore in Settings or the Full Shelf screen while signed into the Apple or Google account used for the purchase. A product price and ownership are separate store answers. If prices cannot load, you can still try Restore. Purchases belong to their store: an Apple purchase does not unlock the Android edition, or vice versa.

If a purchase is pending, wait for the store to complete it. If you cancelled it or the store reported a failure, nothing should unlock. For a charge or refund, use Apple’s or Google’s purchase support; we do not process payments.

A new phone, or a missing book

Keep the old phone until you have verified a backup and opened it successfully on the new one. There is no journal account to sign into and no server copy we can send you. Follow the backup and moving-phone guide. If the app says existing files cannot be opened, do not erase or overwrite them while looking for your backup.

Reminders and app lock

Reminders are optional and require notification permission. Device battery settings or focus modes may delay or silence them. An optional lock helps protect the open app; keep your lock information safe. We cannot recover your device’s encryption key.

Printing and sharing

The designed PDF is a digital file you can print yourself. Yearshelf does not order, print or ship a physical book. Review the PDF and your printer’s settings before paying a printer. A plain export or backup remains available without Full Shelf.

Share cards use the native share sheet. Check what the card contains before sending it. A shared image, backup or PDF cannot be recalled by Yearshelf after it leaves the app.

Availability

Yearshelf is currently in preparation for iOS and Android. Public downloads are not available yet. Tester access, where provided, is separate from public store availability.
